This was a solid 3 stars until the end where it jumped to 4 stars. Like the pervious installment in this series, this is a retelling of a Grimm Brothers fairy tale (this one is Hansel & Gretel) where there is a bit more backstory and character development. I found Gretel to be whiny and kinda annoying. I loved Gretel's character arc, I just wish it didn't take the entire book to get there. I would have loved to read a few chapters from the perspective of the Gretel at the end of the book.
