Ladies and gentlemen, I'm gonna have to say this; Khaled Hosseini is the GOAT storyteller. Period.

It's true what the reviews say about Khaled Hosseini, the way the books are written is magical.

I felt like I was one of characters in the book, an onlooker.

I really loved the travel aspects of this book and the descriptions of the culture. I find all cultures so interesting, we're all so different but also so similar.

Cant wait to read more by Khaled.

i didn't really like the concept...
it felt like a collection of short stories, i would have preferred if the plot from the beginning had been the main focus. i eventually got tired of reading about new people all the time

I loved his other 2 books more. For me,they were more emotional and impactful storytelling wise.

I get what this books tries to do: POVs of different characters across the time and space, how our lives are intertwined with incidents and people, how incidents in one place have ripple effect across time, borders, and people. This makes me way more realistic, the way life actually happens.

But I liked other books more.

Khaled Hosseini has a way with words that entices you, lures you in and captures your thoughts, dreams and emotions... and then you just can't put the damn book down. Each chapter had a different story to tell, but each sentence and story he put down in this book was clearly intricately thought out, with every detail planned and executed perfectly.

One small detail I thoroughly enjoyed about this book was that he did not tell you where you were, in relation to the characters. He would leave little hints for you to figure it out and while it wasn't difficult to figure out who's story you were reading, it was uniquely fun to find out through all the little hints dropped.

I originally picked this book up because, while working, I saw a woman crying and upon asking her what was wrong, she just pointed to the book. I'm so glad that day happened and I'm so glad that I had enough sense to pick the book up.
