I loved this book! Her Majesty's Royal Coven is a multiple-POV urban fantasy with heavy feminist and LGBT themes. It follows 4 childhood friends as they navigate their mid-late 30s as witches in modern-day UK. They all have different lives and priorities but their lives start to cross paths again when oracles at the HMRC (Her Majesty's Royal Coven) see a vision of Leviathan rising.

I don't usually read fantasy books when I do, I like them to be set in the real world.. it feels more realistic to me. It also means the world-building is less overwhelming which as a 'not very often' fantasy reader makes the book more accessible to me. 

I enjoyed the dialogue between the characters, especially the teenagers, it felt realistic and modern. It had me giggling out loud throughout the book.

The chapter length was ~5-8 pages a piece which went quickly and made it very easy to keep saying one more chapter.

The story is easy to follow, there's not a lot of mystery to uncover yourself, and most of it is shown or told to you. I liked this aspect, it made it easier to follow and quick to read, however, this may turn some people away from this book.

I did not expect that my first book of the year would be a 5-star read and a fantasy! I guess it's all downhill from here.
