Nice one but I spoiled it a bit for myself by guessing right early in the book.

Why aren’t six feet tall women who hate wearing bras throwing themselves at me?
God the more this series goes on the less and less I like Reacher. Fun mystery, though.
This book is above-average for the Jack Reacher books I've read so far. The story unfolds with fewer lazy plot devices than normal, but that is partly because much of the stupidity is lumped into the "big reveal" at the end. Still, that somehow feels better. I perhaps enjoyed this book more than I usually would because I read it as a reaction to [b:A Constellation of Vital Phenomena|18428067|A Constellation of Vital Phenomena|Anthony Marra|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1408313066s/18428067.jpg|19926928] which I hated. This book is largely the opposite of that one. Running Blind has a strong, action-oriented main character with an indomitable sense of justice who shakes things up and takes care of business with a general lack of sentimentality.

It’s a fast paced, compelling story. It’s somewhat hard to put down, and easy to read, even in small sections. The downside is the story is a little thin, and no real character development. The literary equivalent of a milk chocolate bar; pleasant at the time, a bit morish, but ultimately unsatisfying. And of course, you want the next one.
This started out promising but rapidly collapsed into crapness. Spoilers ahead.
The initial set up is pretty sound but it takes a step to the unlikely when the FBI start blackmailing him. Very quickly it became really obvious who the killer was going to be and their method of subduing the victims. I then spent the rest of the book thinking, 'no, it can't be'. But it was and then the method of death was revealed and it was ridiculous and implausible. It also doesn't help when the audiobook narrator (male) has to 'disguise' the voice to hide the identity.
Everything else just felt like melodrama and filler as we experience the joys of Reacher settled down, with a steady GF (well, at least until he cheats on her), being fairly obnoxious to one female character seemingly because she is 'ugly' and another because she's 'hot' and generally mooching around without doing much. One characters annoyance at him for wasting time was shared by me.
Still, this was early in the series and the hook behind the killings was used to better impact later on in One Shot, a much more effective Reacher story. Perhaps go read that one rather than this.
