This book held me in gentle kindness as I went through the hard things of life. It was a safe haven for me, a place to let my nervous system come to a calm place. Sarah's meditations are medicine for the soul, as are her words. I loved reading the chapters first, it helped quiet my mind as I settled in to integrate the meditation into my life.
Thank you Sarah!! Everyone should read this book, so we all can return to our hearts šŸ’—šŸ’—šŸ’— I highlighted basically
this whole book, so here is a quote that sums it all up....

"To my heart, I am listening"

Being familiar with her voice from meditations, it was a joy reading the book while "hearing" her voice.

The strength here seems to be in the quality of the audiobook. If you are looking to be soothed, then I think this is highly recommended and the five-stars are extremely justified. Listening to the audio on 2.5x approximates our normal speaking rate to give an idea of how deliberately paced it is. Thatā€™s not necessarily a criticism. The world is much too rushed.

But *plenty* of better books for practical self-intervention, reflection, and improvement exist. This book is a pretty picture. And a pretty picture is worth a 1000 words. But for reflection, I donā€™t want words. I want thoughts, ideas, actions, and substance. I want long-lasting change that makes me get to the foundations. I felt this was supposed to relax me temporarily and didnā€™t give me much to subsist on.

Usually, Iā€™d chalk this up towards this not being the book for me, but the subtitle is explicitly a ā€œhow toā€ and it should be geared more towards the meditative.

Absolutely beautiful, from start to finish. Too many gorgeous sentences to transfer. The accompanying mediations were so lovely. Happy to have this one on my shelf.

Loved this. Itā€™s a slow, thoughtful read. You can read or listen to the meditations (I recommend listening bc her voice is gorgeous!) and itā€™s a great resource if you want to lead others through some meditations. I actually finished this 1/8/23 but I had read the majority of it in 2022 so I set it to count to my 2022 count šŸ˜¬

First I listened to the audiobook and gave it 3 stars. Then I read it, and I highlighted so many pearls of wisdom that I had to change my rating to 5 stars. If youā€™re worried about having the audio of the authorā€™s meditations, donā€™t be. She provides a link in the book (e-book for me) where you can find all of the recordings and listen to them as much as you want. This book is so inspirational - probably not for everyone, but definitely for me!

My mom told me to read this book, that it was all the things she wished she could have told me (so, she did tell me them). With that beautiful framework, I was able to get the most out of this. I was already familiar with Sarah Blondin from some of my favorite meditations on the Insight timer app. She, as she acknowledges, is saying nothing new but speaks truth to the power of love in a really beautiful way. I really recommend reading with both a physical copy you can return to and an audiobook for the meditations and Sarahā€™s incredibly calming voice.
