I liked this book less than My Year of Rest of Relaxation only because of some certain, graphic scenes in the book, as well as the most grotesque descriptions of bodily harm, sexual acts, etc; however, Moshfegh's writing is so gripping, descriptive, and blunt that I couldn't put the book down and finished in about 3 days.

This was a fantastically written book; however, a good portion of the content was fairly disturbing. While much of it was integral to the structure of the story and understanding who, exactly, these characters all were, Moshfegh certainly didn’t spare us any details.

I was honestly a bit disappointed by the ending, the first 100 pages were so disgusting but it seemed like the author gave up on that upon having the readers attention
