Grace has been annoying for the last two books of this series. This book was stupid long and I got to the point I just didn’t care about what was happening. I don’t think I’m going to keep going.

going to give this 4/5.
this was one of my most anticipated reads for 2022, mostly because i had finished the 3 books leading up to this one in january, and couldn't wait until this one was released to read it.
now let's get down to it. i felt like this book had some super slow parts, but also had terrific character building and storyline development. and IZZY? oh my gosh. the development... you know a writer has done their job when they introduce a character you hate, yet grow to love all while putting subtle hints of backstory into the plot line. one thing i really wished we got into more was the last 200ish pages. i wish there was more detail, and it all just seemed super fast. around the 450 page mark seemed a little slow but then quickly picked up with another continuing plot line that wolff introduced at the beginning of this 4th installment.
overall it was a great read, and am looking forward to when charm (#5) and apparently cherish (#6) come out later this year!

“no one is stealing your soul hudson, you’re letting them take it.”
The first two books in this series are still my favorite but I feel the ending of this one was much more wrapped up than the previous books. It ends in a way that makes you want to read on without feeling unfinished or without reprieve for the heroine. I plan to read on as the next book comes out in November!
God I love this series so much! I went into it thinking they would be fun YA fantasy books and not much else, but it’s ended up being one of my all time favorite series. I love the characters, the relationship, the friendships, and the story. I love that Grace is independent and strong, even if she struggles getting to those points. She isn’t a weak heroine who is willing to roll over and let others protect her, and I love that so much. I love the references to books, and I love the music as well! Honestly, sometimes I think about the series and get emotional knowing the world and the characters aren’t real! Definitely one of those book series that unexpectedly burrowed into my heart.
