I give the whole series a 3/5. I really liked some of it and some I thought was kinda cheesy. I originally was in it for the vampires but I ended up loving all the mythical creatures.

The book wasn't bad it was just overly wordy. Grace repeats and summarizes way too much from previous chapters. There is a lot of rambling throughout the book and repeated phrases that it makes it hard to read.

Over 900 pages that could have easily been cut in half.

*crying myself to sleep*

I loved the story, the action, the intrigue. I didn't love Grace reiterating the same qualms over and over. Minus that, this was hard to put down

Going into this series, I knew they were bad. That's exactly why I read them! I was BEYOND ready for the corniness and laughs. Unfortunately, we are long past funny bad. We have entered poor writing and worse editing territory. Characters are talking in scenes that they are not in. They are saying things in rooms they will enter pages later. "Aren't you supposed to be in London?" I ask myself about said character. In my mind, they respond, "Yes, but I was originally in significantly more scenes and these are the remnants." I cringe and sit down the book for days. Worse still, this book is boring. It is way too long. The plot grinds to a halt and takes major steps back every few chapters. It's a grind just to get through dozens of these tiny chapters. In my eyes, boring is a far greater crime than bad; thus, boring is what gives this book it's poor rating. It probably deserves one star, but some of the corniness still got a chuckle out of me. (Read: there is a chapter named "Girlboss.") Alas, I love to torment myself and will be reading the next two books, even though I couldn't stand this one.
