this book is like Monster high meets hunger games......High stakes, fast paced book and it doesn't look like it will slow down with the next book in the series. I shouldn't enjoy these books as much as I do but they are fun. can't wait to read the next book next month.

WHAT IN THE AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER IS HAPPENING? Just kidding I had to be dramatic for a sec. This series is like a YA version of Zodiac Academy. To be completely honest I was super confused at the ending cause I thought there were two more books. Turns out this is the sorta end to the Cyrus Saga but there’s more into the world such as what happened when Hudson and Grace were Frozen and all that. I may or may not take a break from the next ones i continue. I like the books but Grace tended to get on my nerves. She had to be coddled constantly because she was scared and kept getting sad or annoyed that she kept learning new things about herself (it was a little roller coaster) but man idk how many times she had to question herself and not use her powerful magic and people kept dying and idk I got super annoyed with her. ALSO: some parts felt a teensy bit stretched out and i kept going so I could get to the end but almost stopped ready many times cause it just felt like there was an entire book of just filler that could have been cut. This probably could have been a trilogy. I liked the story enough! 4/5 stars.

Had to re-add this review because of a bug in my 2024 reading history.
From what I remember about this book, it was a serious drop off in quality from the first books in the series. All the characters are relatively unlikable (hello, they’re teens), but the teenage angst was AMPED up in this book. And, really, to no avail. It’s moments like these where I truly feel like an elder reading a book too young for me, and I’m only in mid-twenties!
I will eventually finish this series, because it’s too bonkers at this point to be left alone, hence the moderate rating. Just be warned this book was a bit of a snooze to get through.
