This was a quick, cute light read. However, I didn’t think there was all too much character development... it felt kind of “thin”, for lack of a better word. It’s great if you’re looking for something quick though.

Reese steered me wrong. Almost didn’t finish this book/almost wish I had given up after the first few chapters. I kept waiting for a resolution for all of the whiny adults in this book and never really got one. Overall just depressing

I really didn't enjoy this book at all. Based on the title, cover, and description I was expecting a light hearted, funny summer read. However it ended up having really heavy themes randomly throughout the book which made the storyline feel very disjointed. It felt like the author didn't know what she wanted the book to accomplish.

And the award for most deceiving cover and title goes to….. Jetsetters!  This book appears like it was going to be a fun summer read but it is a depressing journey through four people’s sad lives. Not sure what group of people I’d recommend this too. Maybe people needing comfort in the fact that other people have sadness around them too.

2.5 stars: Thought I’d try out a Reese Book Club pick & it looks like I’m not a huge fan of her choices. I have mixed feelings about this book.

Positive: It’s a good beach read & I wanted to keep reading. Plot: The entire Perkins family takes a Mediterranean cruise that their mother supposedly won in a writing contest. She wants to reconnect with her adult children.

Negative(s): The characters are annoyingly stereotypical. Charlotte, the mother of the group, is a 71 year old woman longing for some eroticism in her life & somehow the author made this seem gross. Lee (oldest daughter) is an unsuccessful actress, longing for love & success. Cord (brother) can't admit to his family that he’s gay & an alcoholic. Regan (youngest daughter) is a woman in a loveless marriage.

So...even though I didn't identify with any of the characters (my family always dishes about their problems & we don’t keep secrets), I found myself kind of enjoying the book mostly & only for the cruise port stops. It was entertaining yet sad...even on this once in a lifetime trip the family couldn't see past their problems to try to enjoy the beauty in the places that they were visiting. Worse yet...the mother, Charlotte, never tried to rekindle any relationships with her kids & that was the point of the story. When it ends, you don’t get any answers either...so much backstory about each character & then nothing.

Bottom line: even though the cover is cute, that’s about all this book has. If you like this book it is crystal clear that we won’t ever like the same type of books & I’m okay with that. I would not recommend it.
