Interesting and disturbing plot line, as one would hope for in a thriller. However, the book is full of sexist, misogynist and homophobic comments / statements!!!! Absolutely not okay
Interesting, tough read. You can read my full review at my blog here: http://knowitnotsomuch.blogspot.com/2012/09/kisscut.html
This is the kind of book that is so alarming that it upsets the reader, and yet you know it could be true in our world of today. You may want to put it down to stop thinking about the horrors but you also need to see if it ends the way you want. This author is a favourite of mine for thrillers, and this is one of her most graphic and unforgettable. Fasten your seat belt if you open the front cover...

I’ll just say this, I DID NOT see this back story coming. Oh. Em. Gee.
4.5 stars.
This is my second Karin Slaughter book that I have read and I am definitely now a fan of hers.
Her writing is great and very captivating; and the plot lines that she writes about... wowie.
Seeming as her books can be quite full on and gruesome even, I think that her books are only for a certain audience, as I definitely think not many people could handle the topics and graphic scenes mentioned.
Speaking of topics mentioned, this book has a massive trigger warning for child abuse and child pornography.
Slaughter writes these things masterfully, but its not for the fainthearted.
This book was indeed heartbreaking, but so engaging and suspenseful!
Yes some scenes made my gut wrench and I was so shocked and disgusted, but as I said before, the way Slaughter writes though, she makes it work and keeps you reading.
I also thought the characters were well developed and I thought they were all interesting. I could easily believe that we were following people who actually exist.
I will be picking up more of her work and I feel like she could easily become a favourite author of mine.

While the characters are both good and both annoying as hell, as well as being semi believable (aka Lena). The storyline was a little darker than what I have imagined from reading a couple of Slaughter's other books and I'm not fully sure how much I really enjoyed it, other than being happy that it's fiction. I find that writing books whether it's fiction or non on a subject like this can be rather touchy and can be quite a hit or miss for the readers, so Karin Slaughter went on a risky subject when she wrote this book and published it.
I can say for sure that this isn't a book that I'm going to be keeping on my shelves.

This was such a compelling yet disturbing book. We often wonder why kids do some things....and it is often the adults around them. Some children are led down dark devious paths and grow into dark devious adults. The sad cycle is seen in this book.

This book hit me harder than I realized. It has some very intense elements which could be problematic for those who are sensitive. Also, I didn't expect the ending. I can tell the rest of the series is going to be very action packed and I can't wait to see what happens.
