Loved this! Cameron is a scientist on a new planet. Tal'jean is the alien alpha who can't help but be very drawn to and curious about the new beings, especially Cameron. I found this funny, hot, and sweet - my favorite trifecta of romance feelings. The language barriers made their relationship a challenge but I liked how they worked with it, even when there were some miscommunications. The twist on reproductive organs suddenly growing in conjunction with a heat in humans was fascinating, especially when people besides Cameron were affected with varying results. My only complaint is we got all this world building and intense mating and set ups for future couples... but no other books forthcoming. Cry.

I liked this way more than I expected I would. Really, corny titles like this one usually make me give a book the side eye and a pass but I'm glad I took a chance on this one.
Sure, it's a little Avatar-esque derivative, but there are enough differences to make this interesting. I think I'll probably check out the other books in the series once they are released. I don't know when that might be though since, as of the writing of this review, I think it's been two years since this was published and the next book isn't out yet. Either way, I hope there will be more in this series.

I absolutely adored this and devoured it all as fast as I could.
Warning for Mpreg in this. It's at the very end and it skips over all of the pregnancy until Cameron has the baby - which it also skips over - but it's still there, and a large part of this story has talk about Cameron getting pregnant with Tal'Jen's young and all that. Although this is an alien planet with, well, aliens, so it's not Mpreg like in a traditional ABO story or anything like that. Nonetheless, if Mpreg is not your thing, well be aware that it is in this story (although it isn't a large part of the main story and is at the very end in the epilogue, so if you can take it when you normally wouldn't with that, I HIGHLy recommend this book.)
So now that that's out the way, to the actual story: I loved it. Absolutely adored it. Had to force myself to stop reading when sleep was very much needed. I love when I stumble across stories like this, that make me not want to sleep at all.
Cameron is a human, and he's a xenolinguist - we are at some point in the future, perhaps millions or even billions of years in the future, because Cameron often refers to our earth as "Old Earth" as if it no longer exist...or maybe they just found a new planet that they call New Earth, I don't know. It wasn't 100% clear on that. But we are in a time when humans can live on different planets easily and explore new planets and travel in a timely manner so it has to be at least millions - maybe thousands? - of years from our present day. (who knows when, if ever, humans will be able to travel in space further than the moon and on a larger scale than just astronauts, but I imagine if we ever get there, it'll be at least a long time from now.)
Anywho, Cameron is a xenolinguist, meaning he studies languages of other alien species from other planets. This planet, Omega IV, is the 6th one Cameron has been too, so he's been around aliens before - although technically the humans are the aliens when they go to other populated planets.
Anyway, on this planet the trees are blue and the sky is pink, and it smells wonderful, at least to Cameron it does. He's with the scientists on this planet, but there are also miners, who go down into the ground of these planets to try to dig up anything valuable the human race can use.
Meanwhile the scientists study the planets they're on and all that. Cameron has to be assigned a partner to go out into the lands on the planet, and eventually he gets assigned Mike, who is a genealogist.
So after awhile, he and Mike start taking day trips into the forrest on the planet, and eventually he captures the notice of Tal'jen, one of the native species on the planet. He stays out of sight at first, interested in the alien creatures he sees - more Cameron than Mike. And when eventually Cameron sees Tal'jen for a quick flash of a second, Cameron is excited, because he's a humanoid creature. Mike doesn't believe Cameron at first, so he's determined to get Tal'jen on camera.
And what a sight Tal'jen is. He's big - like 7 feet tall big - and violet, and muscular, and has a big...well, you get the picture ;)
When they formally meet each other, they don't know the other's language, but they can't help but be drawn to each other, and things escalate...ahem, sexually...pretty fast ;).
When Mike eventually sees the footage Cameron gets, he definitely believes him, but also...Cameron forgot to turn off the camera too, and Mike sees a little more than Cameron bargained for. But anyway, of course it gets back to the other scientists at the base, and eventually Cameron and Tal'jen are communicating, even if it's small words here and there, and some more naughty things happen to ;)
And when Cameron starts feeling massive cramps that mirror menstruation, answers are needed. And as Cameron and Tal'jen start to fall more in love, and become more integrated, things progress. As two species are introduced to each other.
I adored this so much. The connection these two were able to have, even when they barely knew a word of the other's language, was great and immense. I felt the chemistry between these two, it was so palpable, and they were just amazing together.
I absolutely loved this and HIGHLY recommend it, if you don't mind Mpreg that's at the end or can tolerate it being at the end. This was SO GOOD.
I'm bummed there hasn't been a new book in this series in about 2 years, as the other characters like Mike or Daniel were interesting and I would so loveee a book with them. Here's hoping a second book comes out sometimes soon *fingers crossed*
In the meantime, this can be read as a standalone, and these two get their HEA in the end, so I say dive right in. DEFINITELY worth a read. I can't gush about this enough!

Everything I’ve always wanted in this subgenre!
This book was so good that I could hardly put it down. I was gripped by the story from the first chapter and totally invested in Cameron, who is hilarious. The book has a great mix of humor, tension and romance. The pacing is honestly perfect. I loved the world building and the way the author handles the interaction between two species that know nothing of the other. I hope there are many more books in this series!
Also, this has the funniest “first contact” scene ever. A friend described this as a sexier Avatar (the movie), and it’s totally true.

Aww so cute...
I loved both of these guys much. Though 10 freaking months of being preggers would be awful for anyone much less a newly made omega.

Fun, sexy and sweet story. Avataresque aliens and world building. Instant mates, knotting, and mpreg. HFN ending. Waiting for the next installment.
3.5
It was entertaining I really enjoy the new discovery/ can't speak the same language trope.

The beginning was a touch slow. Maybe a bit of info-dumping got in a way. Maybe it just took me a month or so to get into a present tense, first person POV narrative. But the story won over. I am very glad I kept on reading, because once over the hump (first encounter), I couldn't put the book down. There was a bit too much sex for me, but it's my problem - the story didn't really suffer from it. Overall, 4 solid stars.
Here is a quick run-down:
A single alpha alien seeks a single human omega.
Apply at the local jungle.
As a result, we have the hottest purple alien/horny human sex. Knotting. Mpreg. Emotions.
Hysterical episodes involving drone footage of above mentioned sex.
Chaos among humans. Insane amount of possibilities (pairings) in following installments.
The book ends in a cliffie, but not for this particular couple. Can't wait for book 2!
