Definitely went into this expecting more.  While I almost DNF’d it at 9% I kept going.  It was nearly identical to the movie only a few parts changed but ultimately it was an okay book.  I think I would have liked it more when I was a teenager rather than now but in the end I listened to the audiobook (in x3) in one go of it while I cleaned my house so it kept me busy entertained enough.

Rereading this book reminded me how groundbreaking this series was when it came out. The pioneer of dystopian YA novels! I cried multiple times.

Read this first at 11. I'm 24 now, and it's as good as I remember.

It's hard not to love the Hunger Games. I first read the book back in about 2012 and haven't revisited since, but both the text and the films made a lasting impact. I still remember devouring the text after waiting so long to start it.

But for this, I really want to talk about the audio book. Tatiana does amazing work portraying Katniss and all the characters. Her performance is just as captivating, just as tense, just as unable to put it down as reading the text was my first go through. I can imagine myself coming back to listen to her over and over again. And with the audio book sitting at about 10 and a half hours, it goes quick.
