A re-read again after a while of not doing so. Noticed more differences between the movie and the book. Some things I wish they had not missed out in the movie: Madge, the Avox, a more detailed scene of Thresh letting Katniss live, District 11 sending a sponsor of their bread to Katniss, Peeta's leg, Katniss' partial deafness, and more development with Katniss and Rue's relationship. I think the movie gave Cato a more forgiving end which I prefer because it shows that he is also just a child who has been manipulated by the system. Although I don't support Gale and his future actions, I think it would have been better in the movie to show how Katniss is more open towards the idea of having a future with Gale and, more often than not, she is the one who thinks about her relationship with Gale than Gale himself. I've re-read this book, and the others, many times and I can still enjoy it every time. It is nostalgic for me and I think there is a lot of hidden depth and detail within the book that is often underlooked - there is always something new that I think about in a different way.

This series is what gets me through life. I love these characters so much. My review could either lead to me being a blubbering mess or me writing an entire academic thesis so I’ll leave it for now.

Qué rápido se lee, que buen concepto. Un verdadero bestseller. Una pena q las secuelas no sean tan buenas.

I first read this book when I was in middle school and the movie adaptations were just coming out. I remember the focus on the "love story" that was at the heart of this series. But the Hunger Games isn't about love; it's about survival in a society where twenty-four children kill each other for sport on live TV every year. Katniss has an advantage because she already knows what's it like to starve, to lose someone, to hunt and to rage against the system that forces her to do these things. It uncovers the strategy and psychology of being a TV star and those of being a traumatized teenager put into a death game where traps and other contestants could kill you at any moment. It's harrowing and tense and once the Games end, you realize that it's just the tip of the iceberg.
