Outstanding collection of fantasy - not themed but tending towards the fairytale and historical fantasy end of the spectrum. My favourites were J. Kathleen Cheney's 'Fleurs du Mal' (because I am a sucker for creepy plant stories), A.B. Treadwell's 'Playing for Amarante' (a curious look at the madness of great musicians that goes somewhere very unexpected), Ian McHugh's 'Red Dirt' (a weird horror-thriller set in an alternative Dutch-settled Australia) and Geoffrey Maloney's 'Mr Morrow Becomes Acquainted with the Delicate Art of Squid Keeping' (which is highly amusing and particularly bonkers). There's a great deal to like amongst the other 14 stories, though. I plan to pick up the other volumes in the series.
