4.8/5. eye opening, fascinating, love it. sometimes just a little bit too political, but 99% of the time, they bring the receipts.

The book has amazing content, and I will be able to use so much of this to inform my understanding of the world. The flow of the story was not the smoothest throughout. It took me a long time to read. I don't know if that is because I was not committed to it. O"r if I was so busy taking notes, it slowed me. Or was it just the prose? So, I grudgingly gave it a 5. But it is not the true 5s that I would usually hand out to books that are so engaging, that I would read them again and again. I will reference this one, but I did not even read every single word the first time—great notes at the back.

As a medical student being mostly taught to look at different body parts and conditions in silos, save for the little information we discuss about social determinants of health, I was waiting for a book like this for a long time. Inflamed is sure to shift most peoples’ perception of the mind, body, and environment. I am left contemplating the ways in which we can shift medicine and the world to become more human and anti-inflammatory. Learning to decolonize healthcare and our lives is a never ending and necessary process.
