Yet another greek myth retelling added to my list of read books. However, this is much more than the tale of the Minotaur, Crete, or Theseus. While they are all important pieces of this story, the true star of this book is (expectedly) Ariadne. This book interested me after reading Circe, where Ariadne was part of a brief story arc in that book. The first 100 or so pages were but a primer for the true raw, brutal, and haunting story of Ariadne’s life. I cannot recommend this story of feminism, mortality, and grief enough.

“You told me once that one lifetime of human love was worth the loss”

4/5 stars.

I think Greek mythology is super fascinating and this book is no exception. I don’t remember a ton of details of the hero’s and gods mentioned in this book to know how much off script the retelling is, but seemed to follow what I did know of them, while focusing on the women that are often rarely mentioned in Greek epics. Amazing character development (or lack thereof) , felt like every character  had a purpose and was well fleshed out. The story flowed well and I liked that we heard from two perspectives. Well-paced, was interested the whole time.

FUCK MEN
