This was a cute graphic novel! I love superheroes and I love cats, so this was right up my alley.
The art was very cute and I loved all of the different cats. 217 cats seems like a bit much, but I appreciate how diverse they are and there's certainly a lot of potential for future volumes. I also loved that Mousetress was more of an antihero than a straight out hero or villain. Antihero's tend to be more complex, which means I don't tend to see them in media directed at younger kids, but Mousetress was handled pretty well. It was also funny to me that the hero, Eastern Screech, was incompetent and slightly obnoxious. It was entertaining, but it also helps further complicate what a good hero is. All good things for kids to think about.
Really, my only complaints are that there were some things that didn't get wrapped up, but maybe they will in the next book? LikeMousetress gets caught because of the postcard Katie sends to her friend but that's never brought up, nor is that purple haired person. I'm just looking for a little more resolution. But otherwise, it was a super cute, very enjoyable read.
