I have never read a book series where I have given each book five stars and today is the day that has changed. While I love many book series, I am also the first to admit when that book series slacks in one book or doesn’t, but when looking back at this book series I cannot find one moment where it is lacking something. Suzanne Collins perfectly has written a series that does not disappoint, leave you wondering, have slow moments (and vice versa, too fast moments), etc. She provides hope and pain perfectly and gives a realistic example of how war is. Katniss and Peeta’s story had always been one of my favorites on the screen but now reading it and getting more of it, makes me love them even more. Each character in this series was written with so much in mind and it makes me feel as if I knew them personally (and I love when a book does that). Joanna and Finnick I love you both!! This will definitely be a series to me that I reread over and over again and share with others.

There's no much to add from the previous books, to be honest.

It lost me at some point, when the Holo was introduced. But I reconnected with it after it, I even shed tears alongside Katniss. Felt her losses.

Would have loved to live a little more in their new world, but that wouldn't feel much like an ending, would it.

Anyways, I absolutely loved this series. I love Peeta, and I love Katniss, and I want them to live as happy as they can be.

Mockingjay completes a trilogy in a crescendo of violence and trauma. Katniss has survived two Hunger Games, but recovering from the trauma and finally defeating the Capital is a burden that she can barely bear. The frank discussion of the PTSD and mental psychosis that comes from so much death and devastation in a teenager is a breath of fresh air from how many childhood traumas are handled in fiction. The ending is bittersweet but offers hope for a future of healing. A riveting and visceral ending to a series that has changed how I see the world for the better.
