Mockingjay completes a trilogy in a crescendo of violence and trauma. Katniss has survived two Hunger Games, but recovering from the trauma and finally defeating the Capital is a burden that she can barely bear. The frank discussion of the PTSD and mental psychosis that comes from so much death and devastation in a teenager is a breath of fresh air from how many childhood traumas are handled in fiction. The ending is bittersweet but offers hope for a future of healing. A riveting and visceral ending to a series that has changed how I see the world for the better.

Truly did not expect that by the end of the book, I'd be crying like a baby.

It is much different from the first two books because it is more focused on the war, so I understand that people may not like it because they're going in expecting a completely different vibe. But I feel like this book was a great end to the trilogy.
Everything about it just felt like it hammered in the fact that Katniss is just a child who has been forced into a role and it is traumatizing, whether she's acting for the Capitol or the revolution's cameras. All she wanted was to protect her sister, but she unwillingly becomes a political pawn who is constantly forced to bargain to protect the lives of those she cares about.

The beginning felt extremely slow to me, after about 100 pages I felt captivated again by it. The characters were lovable. I don’t think I’d read it again though
