Book 3 of the malloreon. Must read series in order. Though I feel you don't have to have read belgariad first you should for character understanding and understanding the cyclical prophecy aspect of the story.
I know many that love the belgariad more but I feel like this set moves quicker. Maybe because I know the characters and the world and the story already. Though book 3 slogged along for me. Nothing in this middle book really captured my attention.

I definitely have nostalgia for this series. I liked getting to know more characters and the banter in it. It was great to have some closure on a few things, even if it seems relatively slow.

Garion and his cohorts are gaining on Zandramas in spite of the several delays they encounter, they've gone from months behind to just days, because the king of Mallorea kidnaps them and brings them with him to his home.
I remember enjoying this series a lot more than I currently am this time around, will have to see if this feeling persists into the last 2 books before I decide if I'm keeping them or not.

I'm still really enjoying this series. It's not quite as great as the previous one - the Belgariad - but I am reading them one right after the other, which says something good about the book.
