This book has spoilt all other books for me.
Since reading it, I've had bad luck with every book I've picked up. They don't go in depth enough, don't tell the story just as well as this one. I could see the waves and gulls and the sand on the beach.
I could feel the wind and how heartbreaking everything that happened in the story was. I was always on the edge of my seat, always ready to take in more.
A five star read, most definitely.

Maybe I’ll pick this back up but the language is very hard to understand. Very slow start didn’t help either.

It took me a little while to get into the story, which I know is odd, since it opens with two separate points in time: a mother leaving her family, and a body found in the marsh. Nevertheless, I found the beginning slow, but I became very invested in the characters, especially the odd protagonist. I'm not sure how I feel about the ending, but I did enjoy the story as a whole.

It took me a while to really get into this book & at first I wasn’t sure what the hype was about. After about halfway I became more interested & then was hooked during the final chapters!
