One thing I can say is that I just really wish this short story was developed a lot more. There isn't much House Jacos history like House Calore but I really do wish Victoria maybe make it longer. Like maybe explain a little bit more of Coriane's demons. I was expecting that her story hit me to the core when reading her gray life. I also feel like Coriane Jacos and Tiberias Calore VI first time meeting each other was not interesting as I expected it to be. I don't want to spoiled much how they met but that's just my opinion. To me, young Tibe wasn't an exciting character. I thought he was this happy, energetic and smart young man, like Cal but no, he's a little bit different than Cal. I was expecting him to be the yellow to Coriane's gray. IMO, Tibe personality is in between Cal and Maven. Or maybe I feel that way because he's rarely mentioned in the story.
Aside from that, it's also interesting to read that's also has smth to do with Elara Merandus. Even though in this story she is rarely mentioned in words, but if you read closely you can exactly see that Elara has been with Coriane since the first time they met. One thing I can say is that she's a surgeon when it comes to whispering. Also, I feel like we need a story of Elara and Tibe, the aftermath of Coriane's death. It can be a 3rd person POV because I don't want to read Elara's POV TBH. I said this because I want to see how much her death affected her, especially Tibe, because she wrote in her diary that the people that close to her don't love and care for her.
IMO, Coriane is similar to Mare. But while Mare is rough as a stone, Coriane was soft as a feather. Cal is similar to his father. They both need their stone and feather to change them to a better person. W/O them, they'll be lost. Take for an example after Coriane, a part of Tibe also died because of heartache that even Elara can't aid him (not like she was going to aid him in a good way). And I'm very grateful that Mare isn't dead because then Cal will be just like his dad. They both need their stone and feather's guidance. As for Maven and Elara, they're both poison.

Interesting look into Queen Coriane's short life (that's Cal's momma). It's a quick read if you, like me, enjoy being a completionist when you commit to a series.
It took me a while to figure out the context of this novella. Since I read Red Queen a long time ago. For those wondering, this takes place before Red Queen and basically sums up how Cal came to be. I enjoyed the background this novella provided.
