Bruh. I'm slowly going through all the books and side books related to the queen.
Spoilers ahead
This was SO dark! It's about Cals mother Corianne. It's small but it's good. It ends so dark. She ended up killing herself at the end. I feel so much for her as I cannot tell if Elara was actually messing with her or if she was really so depressed. Her love happening with Tibe so nice to help her out of her depression, him falling so much in love with her that they SKIPPED QUEENS TRIAL!!!!! It's definitely a good mini prequel! Can't wait to keep reading!

I will be reading the Red Queen series (I already read Red Queen a while back, but I will re-read that). But this book helped provide a bit of backstory on Queen Coraine, who is mentioned often in The Red Queen.
Honestly, this book made me sad about how things went for Coraine. You could tell that she was indeed a victim of depression, and so many people around her just did not try to be there much as a support. Seeing how she was adamant about creating change within society was interesting. Even though folks were not on board, she seemed to be one of the few silves at the time who wanted to change the system for Reds as well. More human than the others.

Which makes me wonder what the world of Red Queen would have been like had she lived
Heartbreaking book that single-handedly made me not want to read the rest of the series. Not really interested to see the way this pans out in further books.
I'm so confused. The only thing this story did for me was remind me how little I remember from Red Queen. Even after going back and rereading reviews I'm still lost. I feel like I could slip this story into half a dozen YA trilogies and have it fit -- which isn't a good sign for me to keep with this series.
