Wow, wow, wow, if I could give this 10 stars I would. I cannot even write a thorough review to give this novel justice. There is just too much emotion and too much in the silence to reveal. And to have this translated, I can only imagine the depth and intensity in the original language.

um livro pequenininho, mas com uma potência imensa e uma escrita angustiante.

By condensing the writing so exactly, Vincente's overwhelming emotions are delivered in a straightforward manner, mirroring his periods of silences, yet allows the reader to fill in the left over space with their own feelings of grief and guilt.

The work is rare in its approach to the Holocaust, providing truths of the loss and lasting damage on a man, a family, and a community.

I receieved an advanced copy of "The Ghetto Within" from Harpervia through Netgalley.

A tragic and real story about the disconnect so many jews felt during the Holocaust that still rings true today for many.

A powerful story of holding guilt for options not taken. Vicente’s story about holding grief, the silence but loud horror of what could of been was powerful. The writing truly helps aid with his feelings.

My only critique is that I wish the end didn’t feel so fast. While shocking, it is a bit hollow.

Definitely a good story about the after affects of a horrific event: The Holocaust
