Amusing. If anything, read this to get back into reading so helped that it was a book of short stories

Excellent. Really excellent. Hard to listen to at times (my dad died when I was 12, he lost both his parents young), but really on the money.

mostly read this because im in love with the cover art - but, admittedly, it was actually funny! I didn't have very high expectations going on but the chapter on list of fears (specifically the gym description) as well as the monopoly chapter were my favorites. dont normally read nonficiton but i liked this

As a collection of essays this is a mixed bag, some of them funny ('Per Calendar Month', 'Twitch.tv', '24 Stories...', 'Why Rocky IV is the greatest'), some of them a bit moving ('Running Alongside the Wagon', 'Things you only know if both your parents are dead'), and some a bit blah.

Recommended to anyone who enjoys his columns

Enjoyed this book to an embarrassing degree. As a pretty particular and obsessive person myself, I deeply relate to the how-many-neuroses-can-one-man-have? vibe that runs throughout the book. Anyway, I really hope Golby doesn't read storygraph reviews of his own books.

Obviously I can't be subjective, but it's fucking great, and opens up the Millennial conversation beyond the affluent middle class, and uh, really fucked me up a few times! I've now bought an eye mask and a very specific beard trimmer. I am maybe too suggestible.

I’m shocked people describe this book as funny. I didn’t laugh once. It was rather sad. Especially for anyone who has lost a parent. Definitely not funny. I was really looking for funny.
