There was just too much packed into this. The writing was not great. Zombies, Angels, vampires, wolves and demons. I couldn’t even finish this. Disappointed in how many 5 stars reviews it had.

I can’t rate this book because I think ultimately it wasn’t for me. The writing was strong. The beginning portion had me very much drawn in. But I didn’t realize this was a RH and I find myself unable to empathize with the turmoil of a MC feeling as she does for her multiple love interest intermingled with heavy heavy doses of guilt. Just not for me. It was well written. I liked the world building. I liked that it combined every myth in an end of the world scenario.

I can’t honestly give a good review to this trilogy reason being NO TRIGGER WARNINGS were given and there is r@pe and graphic sexual assault that needed a damn trigger warning ⚠️

Now the writing was “not bad” but (DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE WRONGFUL USE OF MYTHOLOGY) the FMC triggered the hell out of me, she’s soo unstable that I couldn’t even relate to her besides all the traumatic things she went through, I think she’s totally needed a glow up sooner I’m almost finish with book 2 (while writing this it will not be posted till I finish the whole trilogy) but already know more bad shyt is going to happen she just gonna be crying and waiting for someone to come help her out, when is she going to help her damn self ?? I don’t know but I’ll be back once I finish reading

Decent book. There are a lot of confusing plot points, mythology references that weren’t properly introduced to the reader. If you have no knowledge of mythology, Gods/Goddesses and their respective jobs within the fantasy world, you’ll be mostly confused. Not sure if I want to take the time to read the second book.

I loved but also at times hated this book, if you have a problem with a MC that cries a lot, don’t read it. The author specifically writes a warning stating that the MC is a crier. A few aspects that I disliked was the different mixes of mythology (can make it confusing at times), the loyalty to her narcissistic husband, and the lack of character development within this book.

Pros:
1. There are some decent moments in the book where mental health is talked about in a way that didn’t make me want to vomit. Guidance from some of the side characters about how to support the main character when she’s going through manic and depressive episodes aren’t bad.
2. Very cool concept

Cons:
1. The constant switching between POVs
2. I constantly felt like I was missing key points to understand what was happening. Suddenly the author would describe what happened but I’d have no idea what she was talking about or how we got from A to B.
3. The love interest(s) talked to the MC like she was a child and it was weird
4. There was so much clashing of different ideas (fantasy vs. big G God vs. Greek gods vs. King Arthur stories) that it was hard to recall how the world all fit together
5. When sensitive topics were discussed it was never done with finesse and could be super triggering to anyone who wasn’t aware of content warning ahead of time

I think the idea was great just executed poorly. Normally I love easy to read fantasy novels like this but so much about it was cringy that it was difficult for even me to finish. I will likely read the rest of the series eventually but it was very nearly DNF’d.

I loved this book so much! It literally has everything in it. You want apocalypse? Got it. You want vampires and werewolves? Got it. Greek mythology? Got it. Christian tales? That too. King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table? You guessed it!

This book combines everything so well and there wasn't really any dull point in the book for me. I am loving the romantic side of this story, but that's not all there is to it. We get to see Jane lose her family and see how she copes with it. As well as finding a new family that opens their arms to her and accepts her as she is.

What you get:
~ A vampire knight that believes Jane is his soul mate
~ Death himself having a bond with Jane
~ Lucifer wanting Jane for the monster inside her

My Captain Queen Jaine Marie is probably my favorite author ever, and I've read lots of books. I actually found this book Gods & Monsters through her other book WAFTBBW on wattpad. The way she writes and creates a whole other world to dive into, it really makes you feel like these characters are alive, especially in her old author notes ;) lol. This book did take me a little bit to get into but once I did I fell in love. I was completely enthralled by this book, and I'm so proud that she got it published finally! I can't wait for the rest of the series to get into book form so they all can live happily on my bookshelf! Thank you so much Janie for sticking it out through all the hate and rude people. I know that had to have been hard, and I wish they could see how amazing your work truly is and not just think about what they want. You are a person and you have feelings they shouldn't have treated you like that. I love my Captain Queen, and hey if you see this say hey to Ryder for me, I miss him so much![a:Janie Marie|14439701|Janie Marie|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1486374011p2/14439701.jpg]
