I. Loved. This. This was one of those "hammer it in 24 hours" type of books.

Historically, marriage in trouble wasn't frequently worked for me. Second chance, yes. Which seems opposing opinion wise, but I am a fickle creature 🤷‍♀️

However, marriage in trouble where the problematic partner develops ACTUAL self awareness and takes full responsibility of their partner in the trouble? We stan a self aware King. Even though it took a divorce to actually realise they're the one with the problem 😒

I know people had beef with him signing the divorce papers instead of fighting to get her back first, but I think they're missing the significance of him signing them. He signed them FOR HER. Because he knew that's what she wanted, and what she needed from him in that moment. Sacrifice.

The pining. Ohhhhhh the pining. Mutual, yes. But Alessandra had Dom in knots over her and I loved it. The idiot deserved it after neglecting her, although I do seriously empathise with his reasoning, I refuse to believe anyone would miss all the red flags 😫

You should read this if you love a grovel, you love strong assertive FMCs, and you appreciate a strong redemption arc.

I read this because I enjoyed the Twisted series and liked the introduction of Davenports in King of Wrath. I was intrigued with how Ana was going to do this story with a broken love and a divorce, but besides the couple already being together at the start of the book, nothing was different. It was all copy and paste again.

This book has two points of view. The first is Dominic Davenport and he is powerful, brilliant and ambitious. He has clawed his way up from nothing to become the King of Wall Street. He has everything – a beautiful home, a beautiful wife, and more money than he could spend in a lifetime. But no matter how much he accumulates, he’s never satisfied. In his endless quest for more, he drives away the only person who saw him as enough. It isn’t until she's gone that he realizes there may be more to life than riches and glory, but by then, it may be too late. The second point of view is Alessandra Davenport, and she is kind, intelligent, thoughtful and has played the role of a trophy wife for years. She has stood by her husband while he has built an empire, but now that they’ve reached the top, she realises he’s no longer than man she fell in love with. When it becomes clear that she will always come second to his work, she finally takes charge of her life and puts herself first – even if it means leaving the only man she’s ever loved. But what she didn’t count on was his refusal to let her go or for him to fight for their marriage, no matter what it takes.

I enjoyed the characters in the book, and I love that they introduce the next book with Sloane and Xavier, and you can see the tension building between themselves. I liked the friendship groups that are forming with the ladies and the men like with the twisted series. I loved the ladies supporting each other and you can see the fact that they care about each other especially with them trying not to tell the men their secrets, but they end up doing it and then the men finding out. I liked that went Dante went AWOL again, Isabella, Sloane and Vivian turned to the men and was like where the hell is he?

The issues that are arising is that this story felt very generic and bland and predictable. I just wanted something to different to be done and to stop the petty third-act breakup and the miscommunication, it’s not needed. These men run businesses and deal with the mafia, yet they cannot communication with their “love of their lives”. These stories are starting to blend together, and nothing is separating the characters and it’s just getting a bit meh. This story just reminded me of Twisted Love because just like Twisted Love, he gets in major trouble, tries to grovel for his wife, screws up again, but it wasn’t his fault, finds something to get her to forgive him, and the bad guy is gone but not gone. I felt like Roman came into the book too late, and was gone too quickly without an actual ending? Is he dead? Is he safe? Where the hell is he?

The only different with this book is that Christian Harper didn’t fix the main issue in this book, he just updated his security system at the end. I fear how the next book is going but we shall see.

I, once again, absolutely adored another one of Ana Huang’s stories. I felt like I was able to relate to Alessandra as she really was trying to focus on herself and finding who she is without Dominic and overall she was a lovely and well written character. With Dominic, I really enjoyed seeing the character development and learning from his actions throughout the story. The only thing I wished I had been able to see more of was the flashbacks to the beginning of their relationship, it really helped tie things together so I wish we had gotten more of that.

Ok this is my least favorite of the series. This one just didn't hit as hard as the others. That doesn't mean that I didn't like it but it just didn't click with me. I struggled a bit with the story and especially with Dominic. That man pissed me off so many times. What I did LOVE about the book was Alessandra. She is everything and anything a strong FMC shoukd be. She is a powerful, independent, stubborn, confident, strong, witty, and bad**s woman and business woman that just deserves so much love from the audience. Watching her growth and her being able to learn that she has to put herself first was just *cheff's kiss*. Dominic..... I struggled with him a bit. At the end you can see him being very caring, loving, and thoughful but I needed more from him. Now, flashback Dominic I loved but current Dominic not so much and I think it was because they contradicted each other so much personality wise which made me doubt how the hell he changed so much. Readers can tell that he loves Ale so much but at the same time it is so frustrating because you can see that in the flashbacks but when it moves to current times it's like he forgot (he got used to her being there) that he didn't appreciate it and it was so annoying. The groveling, it didn't hit as hard as maybe Dante's or Kai's BUT that type of groveling doesn't fit Dominic so I get why it was a different type of groveling that the rest. He knows Ale so well and he used that to his advantage which in my opinion was a great addition to the plot and the groveling. His groveling wasn't about doing big gestures or some extravagant declarations because that wasn't what their marriage was lacking in, he just needed to show her that he could put her first above all and that's what he did and that's how he groveled. Their connection was always incredibly strong as well as their love, it was just something of attention (which is completely valid on Ale's side). Throughout the book I was rooting more for Ale than Dominic, but I was glad that they ended in a happy way. The book was just lacking something (i dont know what) that I think would have made it a bit more entertaining because in some points it felt flat or boring. Maybe making the book shorter would have helped move things along more smoothly but that's just my opinion. Overall, I liked the book just not like the others in the series. Would I read it again? Yes

I loved it!! Somehow I love Dominic but some part of me just can't forgive him... But I love his character development and I am so happy because we had quite a few scenes with characters from the other books (Jules&Josh,Vivian&Dante,Kai&Isabella) and I love that they have babies and I need more baby scenes I need to see more of Josephine/Josie♡♡♡ And the dark element with Roman. It was so good I think I fell in love with Roman♡♡♡
