This is a pitch black dark romance. The author primarily writes erotic horror, almost splatterpunk style. This one is comparatively tame. But only in that, it's actually a romance - there's a HEA. Expect heavy gore and the MC is not morally grey, he's unredeemable. He's not a serial killer with a moral code. He's a serial killer who kills for fun. Questionable consent. Seriously check the TWs. The reviews are full of people who didn't know they were getting a horror.

I loved it. It's a messed up book. I've been wanting to dip my toes into
Audrey's books for a while but I knew she didn't play. I intentionally held off reading any until I was ready. Glad I did and glad I started here.

I just didn’t like this book at all. The concept was interesting and so I just kept going thinking that the story would start to make more sense to me. But it never really did and I was just disappointed with the way everything turned out all around. I haven’t read any other of Audrey‘s books so maybe this is just a bad example, but I hated her writing style. And I felt like the story just didn’t make a lot of sense. Cash and remedy were both very unlikable characters. I know this is supposed to be a pitch dark romance, but they really didn’t have any redeeming qualities. They were too very broken people, but they were just taking that situation and making it worse. Cash was just evil. And I never felt like either one of them was really that into the other, which did not help the storyline. I don’t know maybe if this had been written better it could’ve been an OK book, but I just , thought the story didn’t make any sense and the decisions that the characters kept making were stupid. There’s no way Cash made it this long as a serial killer without being caught with his dumb as he was being. I would skip this one.
