Objectively- Ryan accomplished what she set out to do with this book. Reel is very much in line with Ryan’s books- she likes to include tough topics (autoimmune disease/lupus in this one and little known Black history, family drama). I always appreciate how she writes her main characters- the women are strong and the men are sensitive with tough exteriors. I wish there was more history interweaved- but I know what my next deep dive reads will be!
