it’s funny to read this for the first time as an adult and not a child. still incredibly relatable and taps into the fundamental want to have agency over your life. thank god we have books to allow us to escape into other worlds!

I read this book several times as a kid, and I loved it. Roald Dahl's books are great, and Matilda's tale is funny, sad, exciting, and ends up being very awesome, hence the rereads. 5 stars.
this book showed me that i have an inferiority complex because i was trying to keep us with five-and-a-half-year-old Matilda and i failed utterly.
