ماتیلدا کتابی بود که به وفور تعریفش رو شنیده بودم در این رده کتاب‌ها. انتظار نداشتم تو این سن خیلی توجهم رو جلب کنه و همین طور هم شد. با این وجود فصل‌هایی بودند که در انتها به سرعت ورق میزدم که فصل بعدی رو شروع کنم. و قطعا کتاب رو خیلی مناسب و جذاب میبینم واسه بچه‌های گروه هدفش.
Surprised I never read this as a child, it's an excellent view on child neglect and abuse, I would just have certainly made a few changes in the presentation of all of the female characters.
It seems like a literary sin that I have gone my whole life without reading this one. I adored Kate Winslet’s narration.

Matilda is a very smart five-year-old. She lives at home with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood and her brother Michael but they could care less about her. Her father is the owner of a used car dealership but he cheats the people he sells the cars too. Mrs. Wormwood spends every day at bingo, which leaves Matilda to go to the library by herself and read books from Rudyard Kipling and Charles Dickens. Books that no other five-year-old would be reading. When Matilda starts at school she meets her teacher Miss Honey and the headmistress of the school Miss Trunchbull. Miss Honey is a very lovely teacher who recognizes that Matilda should be put with the ten and eleven year old students because of her intelligence. But Miss Trunchbull is awful and hates kids and refuses to have a small child with the older students. One day, Matilda realizes that she has a power and she will use that power to help the people she cares about.
I never read Matilda when I was younger but I did grow up watching the movie and I always enjoyed it. And the book is no exception! It was wonderfully written and the story is a very cute one. I haven't seen the movie in a long time but it seems that the movie adaptation followed the book very well. While I was reading, I was picturing the actors and it was a lot of fun. Matilda is a great student and a fast learner. Miss Honey is exactly what we wanted as a teacher when we were younger and starting school. And Miss Trunchbull gives me nightmares. I was so scared of her when I watched Matilda as a young child. She's terrible! And why does she work with kids if she hates them so much? I highly recommend this classic for everyone of all ages. Read it yourself or read it to your kids. I think it is a wonderful book!
