Even though it is a novel for children, I think it can teach even its adult readers a valuable lesson - never underestimate the power of children and never take them for granted. Also, it reminds us of a great power each and every one us has within ourselves, very often hidden out of fear of failing.
Matilda is a small girl, and yet she's the biggest person in the book - it is Matilda who teaches us that, no matter what, no matter how uninspiring your surroundings may be, an individual has the power to rise above the circumstances and to fight their way into a better future.

Read this at the age of 16 now and I adore it as much as my 7 yr old self. I don't know what it is about this book that I absolutely adore. I won't say anything much but if you need a cozy, short, simple and different read. Go with it.
