I love Roald Dahl’s writing style. It’s perfect for precocious kids and just as charming to read as an adult. The story itself heartwarming.

One of my daughter's favorites as well as mine as well. Wonderfully told story with a healthy dose of outrageously horrid characters and the wonderfully loving and intelligent Matilda.
I actually read this book 2-3 years ago, plus watched the movie and absolutely loved it. as a kid I was pretty much a Roald Dahl fan since my mom always encouraged me to read the books and Roald Dahl never disappointed at all, I’ve been wanting to re read this book for quite sometime and I’m going to soon. but this was such a good one and I would recommend this even 10 year old me would but I absolutely feel book is better than the movie.
The way the voice actor read the book was super distracting and jarring. I listen to these kinds of books when I'm trying to relax, go to bed, or get work done, so having her change the volume of her characters would wake me up or I wouldn't be able to turn the volume down because my hands were full. The story was great, it was just this narration of this edition.
