Maybe a 2.5 but rounded down bc this was pretty painful.
Rose is the most annoying book heroine I’ve ever had the displeasure of reading. She was a whiney, annoying, crybaby and getting through her chapters felt like getting my teeth pulled. Jack was basic and creepy af, but at least he wasn’t annoying like Rose.
The author also rambled wayyyy too much and the book could have easily been 100 pages shorter if she stopped repeating things and trying to fill pages with unnecessary character thoughts.

This book wasn't for me.
It's pretty forgettable for me. I read this book awhile ago and I forgot that I had deleted it from my kindle because I was bored by the story. Only to re-download it and read it again. Took me a few chapters to realized that I HAD read it and didn't enjoy it. lol. Still didn't enjoy it the second time around.
The characters are odd to me. I was annoyed by Jack and I was rather irritated by Rose. I really wanted to like this book because I absolutely love the grumpy-sunshine trope!
Nothing really happens, emotionally or story-wise. Usually I'm fine with that because a book can be interesting without anything significant happening. But there's just nothing for me here.
I'm leaving this review to remind myself why it's deleted from my kindle so I don't make the mistake of re-downloading it again.

Read this last night and I loved it ! Finished the entire book within a couple of hours.
This was looooong.
I was almost done with it (6 chapters left) and I was already bored. They’re were already happy and I knew a third act break up was coming and that’s just something I wud make illegal if it were possible.
Not saying this was bad, but if it were shorter it would have been so much better!
A bit bland here and there, cliche obviously, but still enjoyable nonetheless.

Ella Maise is a new to me author, but I am a sucker for “fake relationships that become real” so I was quickly hooked on Marriage For One.
Jack is our grumpy, serious Hero and Rose is our optimistic and stubborn Heroine. The real beauty of this story is the fake relationship between Jack and Rose and how it slowly evolves into something real. Jack tried so hard to resist and stay professional and he literally couldn’t stop himself from falling for Rose. And Rose? She’s a strong and independent character that is so easy to relate to.
There are secrets that Jack has; the foreshadowing gave me anxiety. What happened? Will it ruin them?? Alas, you must read to find out.
Marriage For One was a wonderful, slow-burn of a romance. I was instantly gripped by these characters and invested in their happily-ever-after.
One of my favorite books of the year so far!

This book was recommended by a few others - I enjoy arranged marriage/marriage of convenience stories, but the writing style just wasn't it for me. I'm sure the book is enjoyable for others (my 1⭐ rating is based on my personal rating system and not necessarily how "good" or "bad" a book is), but I couldn't make myself read any further.
