This book was like if a 13 year old thought what an adult work was supposed to look like.

Jack was supposedly a very successful lawyer. But he literally spent like 12 hours a day with Rose…? I’m sorry but how would that have WORKED??? He had all that time to help her paint the cafe and everything and I was like what in the world…? And then he would cancel appointments willy nilly and just cut work in the middle of the day and I was like??? Hello what about your BILLABLE hours?? Your CLIENTS??? I was so surprised he still had his job at the end of the book.

Not to mention Jack was so fucking one dimensional. At the end of the book, I still knew NOTHING about this guy aside from the fact that he was a lawyer (who did his job whenever he felt like it, apparently) and wealthy. That’s it. I knew nothing about his family, his likes, dislikes, or pretty much ANYTHING. The fuck?

3.75⭐️ Cute read! Such a good marriage of convenience this type reminded of the best of the best wattpad books. It was very nostalgic idk how to explain it honestly LMAO. The plot the slow burn everything if you know you know

idk i always rate the book on what the third act conflict is and if i would’ve forgiven them for it. the answer is no probably not. weird vibes !

Couldn't decide between 3 or 4 stars, so maybe this is a 3.5

I did really enjoy this, I liked the romance, the dry humour, the writing style, the chemistry and growth between the characters. It was sweet in a lot of places, I loved the tension and the spice was great. But the plot felt a bit weak for me, the reason for getting married was kind of...huh?? The story just felt a bit forced at times. Also the dialogue was initially very clunky and felt like it was purely for exposition of Rose's background at first. This did change however and the humour and banter between them started to feel natural.

It was a good read and I definitely enjoyed it, caught myself smiling more than a few times, and you could definitely see Jack's growth, but there were times it felt slow, and like the narrative was being a bit forced. There were some avenues within the plot we could have gone down a bit more. And I will always in every book want MORE CONFLICT. I love a good conflict resolution, but please don't give it to me too easy. I need the drama, I need the heartbreak, I need the grovelling before we just kiss and make up like nothing ever happened.

The epilogue was cute though and I would probably give more books from this author a chance, as I didn't love it, but I definitely didn't dislike it at all. It was a cute, fun read.

3.5

Started off with a nice plot. A little bit too predictable towards the end. Still loves the chemistry between Jack & Rose. I just can’t with the Titanic reference

I fell in love with Ella Maise writting when I read "The hardest fall" last year. There is something realistic and enticing. She can create characters with personallity that I banter.
This story starts with a slow pace, you warm up to characters just like they warm up to each other. You get to know they corks as they get to know each other.
But at the same time is so slow that it starts to be corny and cheesy as the romance slowly burned, or maybe I was impatient. I think that's it I started to not be in the right set of mind, so I started to enjoy it less. There's nothing wrong with the story and the characters are well built, with all the funny details. But at some point I just wasn't feeling it anymore, I don't know if it's because I'm really tired.
