Not worth it. Chick lit but with nothing that makes it stand out. Super hard to finish. Wouldn’t recommend at all. The writing is okay tho. And very healthy romance, so there is that.

4.5 stars, grumpy x sunshine fake dating/marriage is slowly becoming my favourite trope

“That's how the universe works: it gives you the one thing you said you'd never want.”

This book was adorable! I had been recommended this book as a slow burn, and I don’t think it was really a slow burn in the way I wanted (basically Mariana Zapata style), but it was a great read nonetheless!

⇢Jack and Rose
Let’s start off with Rose. Honestly, I’m easy to please when it comes to main characters, I immediately love any mc with a small business. Whether they run a bookstore, art shop, or like in this case, a café, I find it endearing and basically like their personality no matter what. Rose honestly wasn’t a super unique heroine because when you’ve read as many NA romances as I have the characters all blur together (I’m sorry I have a terrible memory), but I definitely rooted for her while I was reading this book.

“I’d share my door with you any day, Jack Hawthorne.”
His brows dipped together. “What are you talking about?”
“If you’ve never seen Titanic, I can’t be married to you,” I said seriously.”

Moving on to Jack. Not gonna lie, I was a bit confused about his motivations. This is sort of getting into something I should be talking about in the plot section, but I just don’t get why he decided to fake marry Rose?? I get that he liked her and was trying to help her but c’mon is that really a large enough motivation to do EVERYTHING that he did and went through? Putting that aside, I liked Jack and was glad he wasn’t as rude as the love interests in a lot of romances are. Sure, he was cold, but that was explained so I didn’t have a problem with it.

Jack and Rose as a couple was definitely the best part of this novel. As I mentioned, they were adorable! They played into A LOT of tropes: marriage of convenience, healing/taking care of the other character, grumpy/sunshine and more! And that epilogue was literally one of the cutest I have ever read, which is really saying something.

“I don’t have a home to go back to anymore, Rose.” I stopped, but didn’t look at him. “You’re my home,” he finished.”

⇢The Plot
So as I mentioned, I was a bit confused with certain aspects of this book, like why the whole marriage had even needed to happen. However, there were a lot of things that I loved, like the surgery part, the work dinners, and all the scenes that took place in the café! This book did a great job of actually including relevant plot lines and following through on them, which I love in romances. <3

MY LINKTREE ❦

Not the worst book I’ve read but not one I’d care to remember or recommend either. I couldn’t relate to any of the characters and found most of what they did to be either dramatic, ridiculous, childish or plain annoying. I did not enjoy it that much but I didn’t completely hate it, it did make me smile from time to time but that was the extent of it.

ok ok good read good read. selamat malam buat saya.

He leído tres libros de la autora y este me parece el mejor de todos, pero sigo sintiendo que algo falta

It’s 1.46am. This book was chefs kiss. The pace was perfect, the banter is amazing, and the way these two feel for each other! Urgh, my heart.

This book was perfect as the first read of the year.

For some reason I thought this book was about a couple and their rocky marriage, but hey a marriage of convenience book wasn’t too bad either.

This book is really for the lovers of small acts. The fact that Jack came to pick her up from work every day, helped her with stuff, made sure she got fresh flowers weekly … All to die for, cause who wouldn’t want a grumpy man to do all that for them?
