trashpandac00t's review
Very repetitive, talked so much about the women's personal lives but never brought up queerness

OH Boy, this was pretty awesome. My mother served in the Navy during WWII (not as a code breaker) and she was so very proud of her ability to serve. I only wish that I had her still here to talk more about her service.
This was an amazing book that lays out the history of all the wonderful women that "Chose to Serve" our country.
My thanks to netgalley and Hachette Books for this advanced readers copy.

Great stuff! Amazing stories. It does not read like a novel, but more in depth reporting. I found it compelling and constantly thought of my grandparents during the time.

Very interesting, and I learned a lot, but somehow didn't fully grab my attention toward the end.

Code Girls is a magnificent book. I learned a lot from the book and am elated to have discovered it. I did not know the extent of American code-breaking or that women led the effort. It is a tragedy that so many women were treated unjustly and not recognized for their critical war contributions on this area of crypto analysis. The stories of Dot Braden and Ann Caracristi and Genevieve and so many others are inspiring. As a personal aside, I could not read this book without thinking of my beautiful and brilliant wife who does puzzles nonstop and would have been an exemplary crypto analyst. 4.75 stars of highly recommended reading.
