I began to remember why I quit this series years and years ago. I read a lot of romance fluff and this definitely could have satisfied that but the relationship between Daisy and Ryke, big side characters in this set of books, is one that starts between a 15 and 22 year old.
He literally tells her she hasn't fucked the right people if she hasn't orgasmed. And says and does other grooming behavior.
This is extremely triggering, every time they interact I feel nauseous knowing they end up getting together. Ryke is a "nice guy" and not actually a good guy.

The authors *should* decide to correct the ages of the characters, it would be so much better if they interacted starting at 18 (at least) and 22 before getting together at 20 and 24--if they want an "age gap" and a Ryke that is fretting over getting with someone younger. Please don't include pedophilia in regular new adult romance material... I'd rather it just not be a thing at all.

What I liked:
  • I LOVED seeing Lo's development as a person. He really is all about growing  and becoming a better person for himself and for Lily. And I'm so glad he doesn't enable. And he makes it exponentially clear that he only has eyes for Lily. I love how in love he is with her.
  • I also liked seeing Lily's struggles with her addiciton and learning how she got it in the first place (and learning about everything with her mom and self esteem issued and anxiety); I'm so happy she's getting professional help and is willing to work through her addiciton to better herself
  • I love her sisterly friendship with Rose. And I just love how close they are.
  • I can't believe I'm saying this but I loved every bit of Rose and Connor that we got. I didn't really like them as individuals in the 1st book, but I can't help but love them as a couple
What I disliked:
  • The whole Ryke and Daisy stuff need to end ASAP! But it's pretty obvious they're gonna end up as a couple which I find blasphemous. This is the bare minimum but I at least hope they get together when she's 18 (still doesn't make it right though)
  • Ryke himself is such a douche to Lily. He can never give her a break and it irks me to my core cuz she's struggling too. He always feels like he knows best and doesn't seem to care who's feelings he hurts. He definitely got worse compared to how he was in the first book.
  • I hope we get more of a backstory on Daisy and why she is the way that she is because honestly her irresponsible behavior irks me. And her "unaliving" tendecies concern me. Also them describing her as "looking older" to negate the fact that she's 15 and Ryke is 22 is so unnerving.
  • The past perspective were cute but I really wish we got more moments between Lily and Lo that didn't revolve around sex all the time. I really wanted to see them be emotionally intimate. Also I don't think the pas perspectives really gave any new infor that we didn't know before.

Overall, this book was okay. I'm hopping to grow more connected to the characters cuz right now the only people that I really like are Lily and Rose (and maybe Lo).

(3.5 stars) Back in the Calloway Universe, this series is literally a guilty pleasure, I can never stop myself from reading these books. I'm addicted. But this book would have been 4 stars if there were more Connor's and Rose's scenes, cuz I'm a complete simp for Connor Cobalt ughhh.
Also, the Daisy and Rike situation was a little weird, but unconsciously knowing that they get together when they're older makes it less uncomfortable.
I just didn't like the fact that I barely got to see Lily and Lo together...
But overall I really enjoyed the book :)
