I definitely liked this book better than the first one. Lily’s conversation with her therapist near the end had me tearing up because I related a lot. It makes me happy to see characters grow, and I’m excited to read the next one. Really the only thing that knocked it down a star was Daisy and Ryke’s relationship. I can get down with a lot of stuff in romance, but a minor/adult is just not it. Even though they aren’t together (yet, I imagine it’s coming eventually), Ryke’s comments to Daisy were just inappropriate for someone in their 20s to say to a just-turned 16 year old.

When I read the SA part I was shocked.
"I woke up. To a sixteen-year-old groping me. I don't trust them. I almost got raped, Lily" and then Lily just laughs. A couple of pages later she's on the phone with Lo, she tells him what happened and Lo says "Ryke is scared of a high school girl. What a pussy" and then Lo laughs. Then effing Lily goes "That's mean to say about your brother" AS IF she didn't laugh earlier at Ryke
SA is not something to laugh at or make jokes about. This happens to men too.

This boon was so good and was a quick read for me but I felt more invested and annoyed the first book a bit more.
I loved how the authors were able to realistically show Lily’s character development as she works on her addiction with the help of everyone around her. The introduction of the therapist and the the past events related to her therapy sessions are amazing and gave me more insight into why she has her addictions, her past and how her relationship with Lo has changed as they have grown up together. It was interesting to see more in regards to Daisy and Ryke and seeing that relationship, and it was great to see how Ryke was able to help both Lily and Lo with their addictions.

What I liked:
  • I LOVED seeing Lo's development as a person. He really is all about growing  and becoming a better person for himself and for Lily. And I'm so glad he doesn't enable. And he makes it exponentially clear that he only has eyes for Lily. I love how in love he is with her.
  • I also liked seeing Lily's struggles with her addiciton and learning how she got it in the first place (and learning about everything with her mom and self esteem issued and anxiety); I'm so happy she's getting professional help and is willing to work through her addiciton to better herself
  • I love her sisterly friendship with Rose. And I just love how close they are.
  • I can't believe I'm saying this but I loved every bit of Rose and Connor that we got. I didn't really like them as individuals in the 1st book, but I can't help but love them as a couple
What I disliked:
  • The whole Ryke and Daisy stuff need to end ASAP! But it's pretty obvious they're gonna end up as a couple which I find blasphemous. This is the bare minimum but I at least hope they get together when she's 18 (still doesn't make it right though)
  • Ryke himself is such a douche to Lily. He can never give her a break and it irks me to my core cuz she's struggling too. He always feels like he knows best and doesn't seem to care who's feelings he hurts. He definitely got worse compared to how he was in the first book.
  • I hope we get more of a backstory on Daisy and why she is the way that she is because honestly her irresponsible behavior irks me. And her "unaliving" tendecies concern me. Also them describing her as "looking older" to negate the fact that she's 15 and Ryke is 22 is so unnerving.
  • The past perspective were cute but I really wish we got more moments between Lily and Lo that didn't revolve around sex all the time. I really wanted to see them be emotionally intimate. Also I don't think the pas perspectives really gave any new infor that we didn't know before.

Overall, this book was okay. I'm hopping to grow more connected to the characters cuz right now the only people that I really like are Lily and Rose (and maybe Lo).
