I love this series so much, but this eleventh book in this series was a bit of a struggle for me. I cannot fault the writing or the mystery or the plot or the scenery, but i can give fault to the portrayal of some of the characters in this book. That is why the four stars and not the five which the book probably deserves. I just could not relate to or have any sympathy for Court's daughter Jenny. None of her dialogue was real and none of her behaviour made sense. In fact, I found her disrespect and haughtiness annoying and it turned me off. I loved the descriptions of the big storm and especially Henry Maloo's actions in his cabin near the end redeemed the book for me. Cork was a little lost too, but I blamed that on his daughter's strange behaviour throughout the book. But the action and adventure in the book were topnotch, and the "bad guys" extremely evil. All good. I can't wait to read more books in the series, but, in all honesty, i'm not thrilled about having to put up with this new Jenny in the mix.

Very gripping story. This author is not afraid to kill off characters, and I wasn't sad when one I didn't like didn't survive. Only one left to go before I'm caught up, and the newest one is out in August! Hooray!

Have to say I am amazed at what a great job the author does keeping this series fresh and interesting. Krueger always manages to catch me off guard and I appreciate that he does.
The O'Connor Family is lucky that they manage to escape so many dangerous and soul-crushing adventures. I am always willing to set aside my disbelief to enjoy his tales. And if that is my only issue I am just fine with it!

I really do love when the author incorporates environmental references. This book opens with a derecho. I’ve lived through a very destructive derecho causing 11 Billion in damages and the miles and miles of missing tree canopy makes my heart ache. When Jenny and Cork take cover in the story they come across a baby and trouble ensues. So I do enjoy the story and need to realize the author takes years and months between each book but I’m still bitter about the death of a main character.

This is a continuation of the series and was, as always, an entertaining read with consequences from an evil organization!

Another solid Cork story, but a bit too fanciful for me.

I have been enjoying the Cork O’Connor series of books, and this was one of my favorites. It isn’t easy to keep the stories feeling fresh when you know the characters so well as this is book number 11. However, I really enjoyed this. From El Derecho (excuse Andy misspelling, I am an audio reader on this one) to the main part of escaping with the baby. There were some twists that I didn’t see coming but also happened right when I was like, “this doesn’t seem right.” Overall, I’d recommend this series with extra props to this book.
