Sometimes really thoughtful, sometimes really mean spirited and way too snarky for my tastes. Maybe it was just my optimism for the book fading the more that I read on, but it felt like it got more and more judgemental. Which would actually be an interesting emotional journey to track on this "Year of Flops", but it’s not written over the linear course of a year, so you can’t justify it like that.
I’ve had this on my shelf for years and years and I’m glad that I finally read it, but I didn’t really like it :( that last chapter on Elizabethtown is nice though, and is a sentiment that I hoped to see more of in the book (learning to find good in the oft-mocked and critiqued/looking towards positivity in art)
