Wow, the story is heartbreaking. Ellen Hopkins always writes gut wrenching stories.

It’s no secret that Ellen Hopkins writes intense, disturbing books, and Burned is no exception. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it since I wasn’t the biggest fan of Crank, but Pattyn was a strong main character. Although my thoughts fluctuated throughout the book, the ending was a lot and now I need to read the sequel.

This opened my mind to the idea that people think like I do sometimes. This is probably the first time,in a really long time, I cried while reading a book in response to the story...its a shame how things in life turn out. I know this isn't a true story, but this does happen in life. I'm glad to know that the author questions religion in a way that doesn't "step on any toes" so well to a point to where it becomes a question in your mind that may go unanswered, but you're glad its there. Pattyn is a great charater because in a way she is like me, but we also have our differences. She is a raw character that I can relate to....and I've haven't connected like this to any character I've read about in forever. She is very special to me...thanks Ellen Hopkins, thanks for making me feel as if my thoughts are important. By giving thoughts like that to a character is a gift to an author, you are an amazing writer..I hope to enjoy more novels from you. Thank you very much Ellen Hopkins.

This is the second time I read this book, I believe. I couldn't remember if I'd read it before, so I read it again. This has no bearing on how good the book is; I just read so many books that sometimes I can't remember if I've read a certain book.

I have read a few books by Ellen Hopkins; I've read Crank, Burned, and Perfect. I love them all; I am planning on reading all of them at some point. I am currently reading them chronologically, although I read Perfect a while ago before I chose to read them chronologically.

Hopkins' books are all heartbreaking, at some times uplifting, and impossible to put down. I would highly recommend any of her books. This book, in particular, hurt my heart. What some women have to endure on a daily basis, in the name of religion, is devastating. The violent abuse, both physical and emotional, takes an awful toll on an individual; it all must stop. I just don't know how.

This was an interesting concept, about topics I haven't read a lot about before. I've read Ellen Hopkins' verse before and enjoyed it, but I was much younger. This seemed a bit too dramatic for me, and the ending was so rushed and out of the blue. Good enough to keep me reading, but I probably won't pick up the sequel.
