Heartbreaking

At first, the style of the writing wasn't my thing...
But as I got further into the book I really started to enjoy it.

Okay. So I had a lot of issues with this book. First of all, while many people love the way it was written in verse, I didn't like it; it felt like the writing was broken and was trying too hard. Also, while I did find the main character to be believable, the sudden change in personality at the end made no sense to me at all. I understood what the author was trying to do, but in my opinion, it was executed poorly. Also, I was not a fan of the romance, which plays a huge part in this novel. The story dragged on for way too long, and so much of the beginning felt unnecessary.

I understand why so many people love this book, but it didn't work for me.

I read Burned because my friend recommended it to me. I have never really like Ellen Hopkins's writing, so I was a little reluctant to read this. It turned out that I loved this book. Some things were kinda far fetched and too good to be true, but it was a really good story. Patton was a strong character that came of age and realized her place in the world. She found love and courage. It was inspirational and an eye-opening read.
