Holy Smoke. Have I ever read 530 pages so quickly?! Definitely not. This is the first novel I've ever read of Hopkins or written in verse and I LOVED IT!!

I may need to read everyone one of Hopkins' books. This was such a powerful read. The characters, the heartache, the healing and growth. I am utterly shocked by the ability to develop characters so well with this style of book, it was powerful. It was SO good but that ending 💔❤️‍🩹

I always enjoy Ellen Hopkins' books, I love how she uses format to further emphasize the emotions of the words. I think that this may be my favorite of her books, I felt all the emotions and it had me question my own values, religion, and the concept of love. I found the main character to be very relatable and likable. Upon finishing the last page, I set my head down on the table and questioned my own existence. I had an internal crisis, but I came out of it with a clear mind and reaffirmation of my values. I absolutely love it when books make you question life and change you as a person. I believe that this is one of the purposes of books and I am extremely glad that I read this book. I think that some people could possibly find this book offensive, but if you open your mind and really take the themes into consideration, you might find yourself reaching a new level of self-understanding, emotionally and spiritually.
