I absolutely loved this book! The ending though...I can't even express how upset I was. Ellen Hopkins never disappoints.

Audio book. Well that was a short one! Only 5 hours on audio book. It was great. Starting part two now.

I really enjoyed this book and the format in which it was written. It reads like an assortment of seemingly oddly arranged poems to tell a single story. Although I enjoyed the way it was written and the story being told, something was definitely missing as I read through the book. I never completely connected with Pattyn, but I did understand the reason she did the things she did. For some reason, I don't want to read the sequel. I didn't enjoy this novel enough to warrant that. Although the novel ended in a cliffhanger, the sneak peak at the sequel (Smoke) gave ample discussion of events preceding the cliffhanger. Although it felt as though something was missing from Burned, it was a great look at the story of a girl discovering herself and defeating her personal demons.

This book was absolutely heartbreaking. It is a fiction story, but I'm sure a story some people can unfortunately relate to. I love the writing style of this book, how it's written like a poem. I already started the 2nd book because I couldn't wait to see how the story continued.
