This is the slowest agatha christie's book I have ever read. It started being really intriguing but then it became consistently redundant. There are ramblings spread all over the book about the same stuff. Usually I'm annoyed with Miss Marple, but I actually quite like her in this one and I kinda ship her with Professor Wanstead. But the writing and the editing really could be better. And don't even let me started on the sexism, the xenophobia, and the victim blaming in this book. Reading this book is SO SO SO SO tiring.
The plot is alright, but I have a question:what took Mr. Rafiel so long to investigate it? Like suddenly Miss Marple is his last resort, even if he knew that her success was clearly not guaranteed. Miss Temple I could understand, because she didn't really get the immediate effect of the whole affair, although it's a lot of coincidence too that Miss Temple decides to go on her "pilgrimage" at the same time as Mr. Rafiel's investigation (via Miss Marple). And I definitely think Miss Marple could solved the mystery sooner if Mr. Rafiel just told her what the mystery was after she accepted it?? So why we have to be here. Why.
