Loved the voice of the main character!  Loving father figure.  Interesting historical tidbits.  Prohibition period.

I enjoyed reading this book. It is a lovely story within a story. However, I found the female protagonist a bit unlikeable and unrelatable for much of the beginning.

2.5 stars. This was pleasant enough to read (listen to on audiobook actually), and I enjoyed the bit of history, but I felt like there were too many meandering storylines that were supposed to intersect but never quite did. Another one of those books where it feels like you are steadily building toward a great climax in the plot for 95% of the book, then the last 5% was hardly worth the wait and the climax fell very short. I did really enjoy how the author explained what was true and what was made up at the end of the book. It was interesting to know some of the characters and storylines were based on real life.

Another great audiobook for families. Tea time words like "delightful" and "charming" come to mind.

I listened to this book on audio, and loved it! The reader was fabulous--her voice really matched the story and added to it. Additionally, as you might guess from the medal on the cover, the book was great!

We're following the main character as she lives in Manifest (rural Kansas (?) town) for the summer. Even as she is making friends, learning the ways of Manifest, and making peace with herself, she is reading letters to Jinx (?), a boy who lived in Manifest during WWI. The overlapping stories are interwoven beautifully, so that the reader cares deeply both about main-character-girl and the characters populating WWI Manifest.
