Overall I’m pleased with how the series ended. While I’m sad about a couple of characters, ultimately this series was well done.
I love that it’s another series for teen that I can recommend that does have sex in it!

It was really disappointing how every major event just happened like something would on any other day. The parts that were supposed to be the most exciting were more boring than the filler. I can't believe I read this whole series and watched the even worse movie.

I'm still crying. Not just because of the fact that it is the last book (which is depressing in of itself) but also the ENDING. (and the BEGINNING)! And when you heard a really sad homily in church that morning and saw the SPCA commercial before reading the end, you will be crying. The fact that the book made me cry is a good sign because I am not a crier. If a book can touch me that deeply, then it proves the authors are doing something right. This book was as deep and beautiful as the other ones, but I thought Lena's section was a little slow at times, and some parts were unbelievable (Link killing Abraham anyone?). This book was still amazing though, Ethan and Lena are one of the only couples that I actually root for in the teen novel world.

A nice conclusion to Ethan and Lenas story, with themes of love and loss intertwined with casters and magic. Ethan's journey to return to Gatlin after sacrificing himself felt slightly unrealistic but magic has a way of bringing people back to life. I enjoyed seeing Lena's POV in her section of this book, as well as developing her relationships with other side characters like Liv and John. The ending with Amma's sacrifice was a tear jerker but I enjoyed the happy ending. Overall a nice concept of a world with slightly long winded books but enjoyable characters.
