Some of King's best overall writing, love the topiary, the sound of crunching and falling snow, party favors tumbling out of the elevator, plot summaries of Jack's short stories and play, the long narratives of past experiences and traumas. The Dick Hallorann chapters are fantastic. So unsettling and memorable, until it kind of just ends?
